  • Pre-K & Kindergarten Orientation*: All parents of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students are invited to attend a systemic orientation at Paint Branch Elementary School on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12 NOON.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet their child's teacher and receive information about the early childhood program.  There will be no transportation provided by Prince George's County Public Schools Department of Transportation for this event.   • Principal Meet & Greet Meeting: All parents of students who attend Paint Branch ES are invited to attend the "Principal's Meet and Greet" on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.  Please come by and say, "hello" to Dr. Hairston!

  • Teacher Assignments for the 2018-2019 School Year: Teacher assignments were mailed home with a welcome letter from the new PBES Principal, Dr. Hairston, dated August 21, 2018.  Parents/Guardians should have received a postcard with your child's grade and teacher assigned for the new school year.  Please tell your child the name of his/her teacher to ensure a smooth transition on the first day of school.  FYI: This information is usually posted near the front door of the school during the first week of classes; however, you may call the main office at (301) 513-5300 to find out your child’s teacher assignment.

  • Parents Entering the School Building on the First Day of School: Beginning THIS YEAR, students will enter the building at 8:50 AM through the multipurpose room doors, which are located on the left side of the building, if facing the school's front door.  Students will be seated at tables by grade level and supervised by adults.

Parents who wish to escort their child to class on the first day of school, must report to the main office to sign-in using the Raptor System.  Parents must present a driver's license or government issued ID.  If the Raptor System is registering information slowly, then PBES will divert to a sign-in sheet process, for which parents must also present identification.  This system has been established to ensure the safety and well-being of all PBES students.  If you have any questions, prior to the first day of school, please feel free to contact the Main Office at (301) 513-5300.


  • Transportation: Bus arrival and departure times will be sent to parents from the PGCPS Department of Transportation.

If you have questions regarding transportation, please contact the Transportation office directly at (301) 952-6570.  Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. 




  • Back to School Night: PBES Back to School Night is on Wednesday, September 12th from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM. Please take advantage of this opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s) and to learn about the curriculum and grade level expectations.

  • Uniform Policy: The 2018-2019 uniform policy is available on the school website and is also available for pick up in the main office.

Paint Branch Elementary School is a MANDATORY UNIFORM school.

Uniforms are worn Monday - Friday.  Students are required to wear navy blue pants, shorts and skorts [must be fingertip length], or skirts, white polo shirts, and all black shoes (tennis shoes preferred).  No shoes of a variety of colors, i.e., neon or camouflage are permitted, etc.  Monday through Thursday [no sports apparel].  Hoodies and sweaters are not to be worn around the waist.  They can be worn in the classroom for comfort.  If not, they must hang up in the classroom.  Below is a list of clothing approved for students' uniforms:

Girls:

  • White Polo Shirt
  • Navy Blue pleated skirt or jumper
  • Navy Blue pants or skort
  • Navy Blue sweater or vest
  • All Black shoes or sneakers
  • White, Navy or Black socks
  • NO JEANS, CARGO PANTS or SHORTS

Boys:

  • White Polo Shirt
  • Navy Blue pants
  • Navy Blue sweater or vest
  • Dark Belt (Black or Blue)
  • All Black shoes or sneakers
  • White, Navy or Black socks
  • NO JEANS, CARGO PANTS or SHORTS

NOTE: As of August 30, 2018, PBES PTA was informed that students (both boys and girls) may wear NAVY SHORTS, and tennis shoes with rubber soles of any color.

Elementary (Pre K through Grade 5):

  • Reduced Price Breakfast: No cost to students (*Free Breakfast provided daily to PBES Students)
  • Full Price Breakfast: $1.60 (daily) / $8.00 (weekly)
  • Reduced Price Lunch: No cost to students
  • Full Price Lunch: $2.75 (daily) / $13.75 (weekly) / $55 (monthly)
  • Extra Milk: $0.55

To apply, families must complete a new Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals at the beginning of each school year. Students and their families do not have to be U.S. citizens to receive meal benefits. All students in the family should be listed on one application.

Applications are sent home with students the first week of school. Applications are available at all PGCPS schools, and can be submitted at any time.

Completed applications can be turned in to any PGCPS school or the Department of Food and Nutrition Services in person or by U.S. mail.
