Confucius Institute at the University of Maryland awarded a $10,000 grant to Paint Branch Elementary School for our Chinese Immersion Program!

PTA Staff Snack Day
On March 23, 2018, PBES PTA surprised our wonderful PBES Staff with a variety of delicious snacks to enjoy AND an additional microwave for their Staff Lounge! ALSO - as part of our new membership drive, the PTA also gave 2 randomly selected PBES Staff Members, who are also PTA Members, a $25 gift card (each) to Bath and Body Works! Congratulations to PBES Staff & PTA Members - Ms. Liu and Mr. Fernandez, and WELCOME to all of our newest PTA Members!

PBES Students were among the more than 400 young readers from PGCPS who celebrated #ReadAcrossAmerica at the National Education Association. This year's theme is "Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers." PTA General Membership Meeting & Kick-off
On March 6, 2018, PBES PTA held it's General Membership Meeting & Kick-off Event under our new leadership! It was a great success! Thanks to all who attended and a special thanks to our wonderful volunteers! We hosted more than 60 adults and children and had 13 individuals to join our PTA! We earned $150 selling our Treat Boxes for Autism Awareness, and will donate 50% of all money raised to our PBES Autism Program! 5 BUZZ BUCKS & a UNIFORM FREE DAY PASS were given out for each student; and PBES PTA also raffled two wonderful gifts to all who attended! Congratulations to PBES Staff Ms. Rose and & PTA Member - Milagro Reyes for winning the raffle. WELCOME to all of our newest PTA Members - you can CHECK THEM OUT HERE: ⇒New PTA Members! Our PTA President enjoyed spending time in our PBES Library with Mrs. Hoskey and Ms. George today! Do you know that our library is jammed-packed with great stories for readers of all ages and levels??? In fact, you can take an amazing trip through our library, beginning with the Rookies Readers. Next, you can read a good Chinese language or picture book before exploring the Graphic Novels section. Then you can read a biography AND learn about African American history and culture - all in one day! That's right, take a free trip through our PBES library - all of this AND MORE is available in ONE place for our students and PBES families to enjoy! Yayyyyy - oh the PLACES we'll GO!!! PTA Autism Awareness Fundraiser
During the months of March and April, PBES PTA is selling Treat Boxes to raise money for our PBES Autism Program! PBES PTA will donate 50% of all money raised to our PBES Autism Program to support our students and staff. Our PTA Treat Boxes are stuffed with wonderful snacks and delicious goodies! We're selling them for $5 each - and we're also accepting donations in any amount. Thank you for your support!

Building Community!
Mayra Cerna (Chair, PTA Community Outreach Committee) and Avery Massey (PTA President) had a great lunch meeting at the Food Factory where they enjoyed delicious Middle Eastern and Indian Cuisine with Gloria Aparicio Blackwell (Director, University of Maryland Office of Community Engagement "OCE") and two OCE Staff Members - Sarah D'Alexander (Community Engagement Associate Coordinator) and Golshan Jalali. They discussed Good Neighbor Day and other areas of future collaboration with OCE. PBES PTA is super excited to begin this new chapter of our PTA with OCE as a valued Community Partner!

PBES Annual Career Day 2018!
On March 23, 2018, PBES hosted its Annual Career Day for grades 1st - 6th! Several esteemed professionals and volunteers came together to increase PBES students' awareness of different occupations and inform them of the relationship between work and learning. We would like to send a very special thanks to our AWESOME Professional School Counselor, Ms. Cunningham, and everyone who volunteered or assisted to make our PBES Annual Career Day a success!

Maryland PTA "Good Standing Session"
GREAT NEWS! Thanks to the hard work and diligence of our Treasurer, Mrs. Kelly Jordan, our PBES PTA is NOW a Maryland PTA Chapter in GOOD STANDING! On March 31, 2018, our PBES PTA Treasurer, Mrs. Kelly Jordan, and our PTA President, Mrs. Avery Massey, attended the Maryland PTA's Good Standing Session for local PTA chapters. Kelly and Avery met PTA officers who were in attendance from local PTA chapters. They also conversed and worked with Ms. Latisha Corey, Maryland PTA President (pictured); Mr. Michael Sedgwick, Chair of the Maryland PTA Policies and Procedures Committee (pictured); and Ms. Jayne Lee, President of the PTA Council of Baltimore County (pictured). They were all VERY helpful and instrumental in assisting PBES PTA in completing the final steps of the audit and move towards 100% Compliance.
In a little more than two months time, PBES PTA has crossed the finish line! We are Compliant and in Good Standing!!! This was indeed an informative and productive session for our PBES PTA Officers! Thanks to everyone who assisted us in this process!

4th Annual District 3 Town Hall & Resource Fair
Our PTA President, Avery Massey, and representatives from dozens of County and State agencies joined Prince George's County Council Chair Danielle M. Glaros for her Fourth Annual District 3 Town Hall & Resource Fair at William Wirt Middle School. Chair Glaros and County and State Representatives provided information and answers to District 3 residents, community stakeholders, and other interested individuals about current legislation, issues and concerns.

PBES held our annual Family STEM Night on Wednesday, April 25th, 2018 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the PBES Cafeteria. While temperatures climbed to almost 90 degrees outside, more than 80 PBES students, parents, staff & community members enjoyed the coolest sweets & treats at our PTA ICE CREAM SOCIAL and SUPER SUNDAE CONTEST - judged by none other than our super-cool PBES Administrators: Principal Rodgers and Dean Costea!!! 1st runner up; 2nd runner up & Grand Prizes were awarded! It was a fantastic evening of frosty fun!
PTA Members, PBES Staff, and Volunteers worked together to DONATE all of the following goodies for everyone to enjoy: Ice Cream - All Flavors; Bananas; Cherries; Strawberry, Chocolate & Caramel Syrup; Whipped Cream; Sprinkles; Gummy Bears; Gummy Worms; Gummy Life Savers; Oreo Cookie Crumbs; M & M’s; Skittles; Mini Starbursts; Mini Marshmallows; Chocolate Chips; Ice Cream Scoops; Ice Cream Cones & Many Other Items!!!
